Lot# 10 TWO FOLK ART CANES WITH HUMAN & ANIMAL THEME
Two American folk-carved canes with angled handles decorated with human and animal motifs: 1) simplified dog's head at tip of handle, a reclining dressed female figure at the angle, of a piece with knobby bark-covered shaft, 34 3/4" H.; 2) sheep or dog's head at tip of handle, two young animals' heads at the angle, a man's face with extended tongue carved in relief on the top, of a piece with mottled shaft, 35 1/2" H.
Condition
each with wear and rubbing: 1) well worn, some bark missing, ferrule gone, with losses at foot; 2) head quite worn, with significant loss of detail, the man's face with insect damage, check in the wood near top, submit inquiry
